"Sports utility vehicles" or SUVs, are currently conquering the vehicle market and gaining popularity despite rising fuel prices. Accordingly, the demand for suitable tyres for off-road vehicles as well as SUVs is growing. Last year's sale of 4x4 tyres, for example, increased by 21 percent compared to the previous year, with an increase of about three million.
4x4 tyres - what to consider when buying?
The desired tyre characteristics for SUVs and off-road vehicles are typically higher than for conventional passenger cars. The grip is to be secured on unstable ground, whereby the profile has to be adapted to the ride through mud and wetness. Since classic SUVs are largely equipped with tyres, which are mainly intended for road use and can reach very high speeds, it is clear that they are less suitable for use outside fixed roads. Drivers with higher demands on terrain suitability should therefore rely on SUV tyres.
